BELLA NIPOTINA RETIRED

18 Mar 2025 12:43

A daughter of Pride Of Dubai, Bella Nipotina started her career with David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig at Lindsay Park, transferring to the care of Ciaron Maher and David Eustace in 2021.

‘Bella’ retires as a four-time Group 1 winner and a record of 11 wins and 26 placings from 56 starts, amassing over $22 million in prizemoney, which sees only Winx with a higher career prizemoney earnings, a record Ciaron Maher says embodies her toughness.

“Bella was the most consistent and toughest racehorse I have ever had the pleasure to train. She has given me some of my biggest thrills in racing and has had a wonderful career. I feel honoured to have been a part of her journey, and the last 12 months have shown the true makings of a genuine Australian sprinter,” Maher said in a social media post.

Regular jockey Craig Williams, who was aboard Bella Nipotina for seven of the mare’s eleven wins, including The Everest, said her retirement marks the end of an incredibly journey.

“Her strength, sassy personality and determination on the track was truly special. She will always hold a place in my heart,” Williams said on social media.
