CORONATION STAKES HOPES FOR FORM BLOODSTOCK BUY 30 Apr 2025 10:48
Promising filly Laurelin, a Form Bloodstock purchase, made it three wins from three starts when she won the Memories Of Silver Stakes at Aqueduct on Sunday.
Trained by Graham Motion, three-year-old Laurelin had followed up a debut win by taking the Tepin Stakes before making it three from three on Sunday.
Laurelin was up on the pace heading into the first turn as Opulent Restraint set the tone. Relaxed and settled up the backstretch, the filly began to get into gear around the far turn and she began to target the leader at the top of the lane. With a strong turn of foot, she sailed towards the wire and drew off to win by a neck.
Ridden to victory by Kendrick Carmouche, the three-year-old holds an entry for Royal Ascot’s G1 Coronation Stakes.
Laurelin’s trainer Graham Motion said after the win, “She’s just a stone-cold runner this filly. I really wasn’t sure if she was fit enough today, but I wanted to get her started in this race because she does so well at Aqueduct and Kendrick [Carmouche] gets along so well with her.”
A daughter of Dubawi’s G1 winning son Zarak, Laurelin was knocked down to Form Bloodstock’s Jehan Malherbe for €160,000 at the 2023 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale.
The unbeaten filly is out of the winning Cape Cross mare Bari, whose numerous high-class relatives include G1 Prix d’Ispahan winner Dreamloper, and G1 Oaks winners Talent and Bireme.
