Langerman glory for Danon Platina

23 Jun 2025 10:56

Mauritzfontein’s inform stallion Danon Platina had a day to remember at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
The Japanese champion was responsible for a pair of eye catching two-year-old winners on Saturday with his son Absolutely Yes landing Saturday’s G3 Langerman (1500m) in courageous fashion.

Trained by Justin Snaith, Absolutely Yes made it back to back feature race wins with his Langerman victory. The Danon Platina gelding had captured the Listed Somerset 1200 last time out.

Under a fine, front running ride from Muzi Yeni Absolutely Yes made all to win Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth feature by just under half a length. A subsequent objection was overruled and the result was allowed to stand.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the gelding races for Greg Bortz, Leon Ellman and Gina Goldsmith.
Absolutely Yes, an R800 000 purchase from the 2024 National Yearling Sale, has won three of five starts.

The gelding is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Maybe Yes and is bred on the same Danon Platina/Tiger Ridge cross as G2 Mike De Kock Ipi Tombe Challenge winner White Pearl.

Absolutely Yes was one of two-year-old winners on Saturday for Danon Platina, with the latter’s daughter Oncidium an impressive winner of Saturday’s second race.
Another trained by Justin Snaith, Oncidium romped home to land the Race Coast Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1400m) by two and a quarter lengths while making just her second start.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Oncidium races for Messrs Jonsson and Ross.

The filly, who is out of the Silvano mare Orchid Island, was a R650 000 buy from the 2024 National Sale.

Danon Platina, Japan’s Champion 2YO Colt of 2014, has been responsible for eight two-year-old winners this season. The son of Deep Impact came up with a ninth two-year-old winner on Sunday when his son Blackjack Randall romped home to a near four length maiden win at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
