Distant Winter scores in USA

23 Jun 2025 14:13

The Drakenstein Stud bred and owned Distant Winter recently made a winning debut in North America.
Now in the care of Graham Motion, the What A Winter daughter powered home, under Jorge Ruiz to claim an allowance race (over one mile and 70 yards) at Delaware Park.

The bay rated in the middle of the pack inside early on before splitting rivals and surging away to score by a neck.

Distant Winter showed smart form in South Africa where she won the 2023 G3 Winter Nursery, beating subsequent G1 winner October Morn into second spot.

The daughter of What A Winter is out of the Trippi sired G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes winner Fromafar with Distant Winter herself a full-sister to G3 Tommy Hotspur Stakes runner up Far Away Winter.
