Isivunguvungu sixth, Gimme A Nother second

Champion South African sprinter Isivunguvungu finished sixth in Saturday’s Wolf Hill Stakes at Monmouth Park.
The dual G1 winning son of What A Winter was having his first race since an unplaced effort in the G1 Al Quoz Sprint.
Under Samuel Marin, Isivunguvungu raced wide through the chute, was three wide on the turn, and eventually flattened out to finish with just one runner behind him.

Fellow South African champion Gimme A Nother was also in action this weekend. The champion daughter of Gimmethegreenlight put up another fine effort when runner up in the G2 Canadian Stakes Presented by the Japan Racing Association at Woodbine on Sunday.

Favored Gimme a Nother soon went to the front, slowing the pace to a modest :24.60 and :49.37 as Ready for Shirl set up shop about three lengths behind in the early stages of the nine-furlong test.

Gimme a Nother remained tough, however, Ready for Shirl drew closer with each stride, catching the front runner in the final jump to eke out the win.

The luckless Gimme A Nother has now finished runner up in three of her four North American starts, with each start coming in graded competition.
