BOWIES HERO DIES

20 Jan 2021 12:16

Dual grade 1 stakes winner Bowies Hero was euthanized earlier this week after developing catastrophic foot complications, co-owner Sol Kumin said.

Daily Racing Form first reported the horse’s death from complications of laminitis.

A turf specialist, Bowie’s Hero won eight of 28 races and nearly $1.6 million.

His seven post-maiden victories came in stakes, highlighted by the 2019 Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes (G1T) at Keeneland and the 2018 Frank E. Kilroe Mile Stakes (G1T) at Santa Anita.

Bred in Kentucky by Pope McLean, Pope McLean Jr., and Marc McLean, Bowies Hero, a son of Artie Schiller, is one of three winners for the Sky Mesa  mare Remembered.
